Who can apply?
You can apply to the DDP with UniTrento if you:
- have been selected by MUNI for the integrated program UniTrento-MU in the field of European and International Studies (1st year in Trento) and in Energy Studies (2nd year at MUNI)
- have enrolled in the Master’s programme in “Energy Policy Studies” at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University

have proven your sufficient motivation and English language skills (level B2 of the Common European Framework) as follows:
- International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) – Academic test: A minimum score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component (including writing) is required.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL 90 or above on the internet-based test is required.
- Cambridge EFL examinations: B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference
- have completed a full programme (bachelor’s or master’s) entirely taught in English language. - have three or four-year bachelor’s degree (180 credits) which includes the equivalent of at least 60 course credits from at least two of the following disciplinary areas: History and Philosophy, Economics, Law, Political science, Sociology or Foreign Languages
- have a basic knowledge of a second foreign language, other than Italian, from among those offered at the University of Trento (Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, German) or recognized by MUNI (Czech, Slovak)
- have a personal background with suitable professional vocational and academic experience appropriate to the interdisciplinary nature of the degree programme.
How long is the mobility?
The mobility lasts 2 semesters. The 1st year is to be spent at UniTrento while the 2nd year at MUNI

How does the conversion of grades take place?
The conversion takes place on the basis of the conversion table available in the downloads.
Thesis
All students register their thesis topic at the beginning of the 3rd semester. The registration requires the formulation of a research objective together with a literature review and a justification of the relevance of the research.
Based on their research topic, students can choose their thesis supervisor from among the available staff either at MUNI or at UniTrento.
The thesis defense takes place at MUNI. The thesis will be evaluated and graded according to the MUNI study regulations by a thesis committee composed of MUNI academic staff, with the participation of UniTrento representatives if desired. It is expected that both the thesis supervisor and the thesis reviewer will be present at the thesis defense, either in person or virtually.
The final oral examination takes place immediately after the thesis defense and is evaluated by the same committee.
The content of the examination covers the content of the selected compulsory courses of the programme.
It covers 2 subject areas:
(1) Political Science and International Relations Theory and
(2) Energy and Society.
Tuition fees and scholarship
Students selected by MUNI pay the tuition fees at UniTrento during their first year in Trento (1.500 euros + 3 revenue stamps of 16 euros each) and to MUNI during their second year at MUNI (3.000 euros).
Educational qualification
- from MUNI: Magistr/Magistra (Mgr.) in Energy Policy Studies.
- from UniTrento: Laurea magistrale in European and International Studies – classe LM 52.
