Objectives 

Leadership is one among the most important personal features, for an individual to be successful in society and organizations. 
This course aims to let participants having the experience of what it is to be a leader and what it is to exercise leadership effectively.

At the end of the course, participants:
1. will be able to persuasively discuss what it is to be a leader;
2. will be aware of what is required, in order to develop one's personal leadership skills;
3. will exhibit improved team-working and personal examination skills.

Pre-requirements

There are no preconditions to attend to this course.

Contents

The course will be organized around two core building blocks.
The first building block aims at discussing leadership and the leadership skills in management science, as a means to accurately understand the challenges inherent in the topic.
The second building block aims at delivering the developmental experience of leadership in teams and as individuals. Specifically, the second building block will involve the four foundational elements for being a leader; leadership in context; overcoming the constraints that limit the effective exercise of leadership.

Teaching methods

Attendance is highly recommended but not compulsory.
The course will mostly involve direct delivery in class and team working.
The class-work will be highly interactive and entail pesonal invovlment and participation to discussion and presentation, as per instructor's indications.
Participants will also conduct team work to complete specific exercises.
Students who choose to not attend will be requested to realize an extensive and accurate thesis on the subject.

Verification of learning

The valuation methods differ for attending and non-attending students.
The attending students will be valuated based on actual participation to class discussion and to the leadership project - to be defined together with the instructor. Valuation criteria involve evidence of full engagement and responsibility with the course, willingness to discuss challenging insights, integrity in fulfilling the promise of the course, ability to think critically, clarity and synthesis in presentation of personal ideas.
The non-attending students will be valuated based on a specific more extensive report to be defined with the instructor. Valuation criteria are similar to those indicated for attending students.

Texts

The course materials will be indicated in class, and made available through the "web-learning" class-website.
Students who decide to complete the course as non-attending participants, are requested to contact the instructor to define the topic of the report.
