International opportunities for students

Language requirements

Although most undergraduate courses at UniTrento are taught in Italian, professors often allow international students to take their examinations in English. Research and/or library work can be done in English. Some departments organise a programme or a selected number of courses in English for international students. A certificate of a good command of English is required when studying in one of these programmes or when doing research.

The minimum recommended language level for exchange students coming to Trento in the frame of international programmes is A2 for the attendance of courses held in Italian, B1 for the attendance of courses held in English (levels refer to the Common European Language Framework). Please note that some Departments may have additional language requirements as reported below.

Specific admission requirements

To meet the language requirement, mandatory for admission, the University of Trento accepts certificates internationally recognized (e.g. TOEFL iBT Certificate, Cambridge Certificate, IELTS Certificate, etc.) and/or assessed by Home Institution (i.e. University Language Centre and/or language professor only) provided the level of the language knowledge is clearly stated.
