What is T.I.M.E.?

T.I.M.E. (Top International Managers in Engineering) is a consortium of 58 prestigious Faculties of Engineering and Polytechnics from all over the world that offers double degree courses in several branches of engineering.
The T.I.M.E. it distinguishes the high level and the international dimension of training and makes recent graduates competitive globally.
In addition to TU Dresden UniTrento has active agreements with the following universities / Schools: Technische Universität München, the group of the Ecoles Centrales (Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, CentraleSupélec), the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, the Instituto Superior Tecnico of Lisbon.

Why TUD?

UniTrento partner for 20 years, founded in 1828, the Fakultät für Bauingenieurwesen boasts a rich tradition, just remember the names of Johann Andreas Schubert (1808-1870), Claus Koepcke (1831-1911), Otto Mohr (1835-1918) and Kurt Beyer (1881-1952) who worked here and enjoyed a high reputation.
Today the faculty has 1,800 students and, thanks to its small size, offers an excellent ratio between teachers and students.

TU Dresden is one of the largest employers in Dresden with over 8,000 employees including teachers, administrative staff and researchers who together contribute to the mission of training young people for a future in science, economics and society or even as employees of TU Dresden . The motto: science creates bridges.

What is the added value?

In Italy and abroad, a double degree is always an added value. Not only the experts say it, you just have to browse through the job offers to realize that companies and organizations are looking for international and open-minded profiles, able to work in multicultural and face ever new global challenges: these are the engineers of the future.

What are the professional outlets?

In addition to the already good employment prospects of the engineers of the degree courses in industrial engineering, double degree graduates can aspire to top positions in companies with strong cross-border ties: Germany is in fact the first commercial partner of Italy, while the latter represents the third commercial partner of the first, without forgetting that the importance of the German language for local companies, especially South Tyrolean, strongly integrated into the Central European economic system. 

What are the requirements at the time of departure?

  • have obtained all the credits of the first year of master's degree
  • weighted average of marks of at least 25/30

How long does mobility abroad take?

Minimum 3 semesters (90 credits), extendable by a further semester if the thesis is carried out abroad (additional 30 credits).
The duration of the master's degree, for those who undertake the double degree course, is three years (180 credits) out of which 30 for the internship and 30 for the theis work

Study plan

An ad hoc study plan for each student must be agreed and approved in advance by both institutions and sent to the host university at least one month before mobility. Any changes that may become necessary must be agreed between the parties.

In which language?

Most of the courses are delivered in German, few courses are in English. 

How does the conversion of grades take place?

The conversion takes place on the basis of the conversion table available in the downloads.

Thesis

The degree thesis must be carried out under the supervision of teachers from both institutions and can be discussed at the University of Trento or at the TUD. Must be written in the language of the host university or in English.

Tuition fees

Students participating in the double degree program pay the tuition fees exclusively at UniTrento.
TUD requires the compulsory contribution for complementary services (which includes concessions for public transport) of approx. 300 euros / semester.

Educational qualification

At the end of the double degree course, students obtain two separate second cycle degree diplomas:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering from UniTrento
  • Diplom-Ingenieur degree im Bauingenieurwesen from TUD
