ECTS: 6 (24 hours).

Contents

The course deals with methodological, theoretical, historical and practical aspects of Experimental Economics. The works reviewed in the course span several economic fields. Attention is paid both to ``classical'' works and to more recent contributions.

Objectives

The course aims to provide graduate students with knowledge about experimental practice in Economics.

Requirements

Reference to Microeconomics and Game Theory concepts is made during the course. A good graduate-level textbook in Microeconomics will help refresh these concepts. As an example, consider chapters 1 (Preference and Choice), 2 (Consumer Choice), 6 (Choice under Uncertainty), 7 (Basic Elements of Noncooperative Games) of Mas-Colell, A., Whinston, M.~D., and Green, J. (1995). \textit{Microeconomic {T}heory}, Oxford University Press.

Teaching Methods

The course relies on classroom lectures and practical sessions in the laboratory.

Verification of learning

The final grade is obtained as the convex combination of the grade in a classroom exam (.3) and in a report (.7). The classroom exam is about a selected list of papers from this syllabus. The report must critically discuss relevant experimental works that deal with a topic chosen by the student. The report should contain no more than 3000 words.
