Contents
The TRES2020 will consist of lectures on specific topics given by national and international scholars, as well as working groups to design pre-feasibility studies.
Public and private actors will be invited to communicate good practices in the region and there will be also guided tours to case studies and project sites.
The TRES2020 Programme will be designed as follows:
1. Lectures and Discussion
- The concepts of sustainability and circular economy
- Waste and wastewater management at different scales
- Contaminated sites: remediation and valorization
- Landscape and urban planning design approaches
- Agrifood: sustainable agriculture for high-quality food
2. Workflow and Modalities of the Workshops
The Teaching Methodology consists of:
- Preparatory work and traditional classes
- Analysis and pre-feasibility of local and international case studies through an integrated approach (technology-management-planning)
- Final project (optional)
3. Cultural Tours and Visits
Students will participate in a series of field visits in order to learn about innovative case studies currently active in the Trentino region, such as:
- the anaerobic digestion plant of Cadino
- remediation of the landfill of Ischia Podetti
- solutions for the kerbside collection of municipal solid waste in Trento
Students will also visit the Edmund Mach Foundation research and innovation center.
4. Involvement of Local Actors
The designers of the Cadino plant, the Ischia Podetti landfill project and the sustainable practices of the Municipality of Trento will be involved in collective lectures and project reviews.
Participants' Background
​Admission reserved to up to 25 senior undergraduate and graduate international students with a background in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture and
with a good level of English (minimum level B2).
Students coming from partner universities are pre-selected and nominated by partner universities. UniTrento will make a final screening of the applications.
External students are selected by UniTrento only.
All students are required to upload their CV, ToR (Transcript of Records) and a motivation letter when applying (the on line application tool will be available from mid-February in the section "Useful links").
Workload and Credits
The School, taught entirely in the English language, consists of 8 hours per day of organized activities (lectures, workshops, seminars, visits to local companies, excursions) plus preparation hours.
At the end of the School participants will receive an official UniTrento transcript of records certifying 4 ECTS (+ 2 possible additional credits for optional extra work to be arranged with the academic coordinator).

All participants will stay in a double room, either in an apartment or student dormitory
Participation Fees
Students from partners universities: 450 Euros
External students: 1.000 Euros
In addition to academic activities, participation fees include: accommodation, meals in the university restaurant during the week (except for breakfast), bus pass and social/cultural programs.
All round trip travel costs to and from Trento are to be covered individually by each participant.
Deadlines
Nominations by partner Universities: by 15 March 2020.
Students from partner universities and external students are asked to finalize their on line application by 31 March 2020 and to upload their CV, ToR (Transcript of Records) and a motivation letter.
The on line application will be available starting from mid-February in the section "Useful Links."
The School will be activated with a minimum number of 10 participants.
