18.06 - Saturday Chat Live - Farewell drink

So sad to say goodbye but so funny to make a quiz on the highlights of the past meetings! Thank you everybody for you participation and love!

12.06 - Saturday Chat Live - Popcorn for breakfast

Movies are never-ending stories, you can always learn something new from them, even if it is the fourth time you are watching that film. Some of the films that came out during the meeting and we would like to suggest you are the following: Babel, The Shawshank Redemption, The Hurt locker. All of them are watchable by children also and deliver a great message. Let us know!

05.06 - Saturday Chat Live - Teenagers

Sweet ‘teens was last Saturday's topic. It is undeniable that all of us have discovered a lot about ourselves during this peculiar time of our lives (teenagerhood). For us this meeting was an occasion to share some thoughts that maybe have always been hidden in our deep-self. It is a privilege to have the possibility to share experiences such as this one with meaningful people.

29.05 - Saturday Chat Live - "Leadership"

During the last meeting we managed to see how important it can be to also know the hidden sides of our personality. We tried to deep into the several leadership positions known and understand in which one we were recognising ourselves. One of our participants was going to the dentist and it was moving seeing him committed to join us, despite the appointment he had. Thank you very much to all the participants, it is always a big pleasure to meet you (even if) virtually.

22.05 - Saturday Chat Live - "Volare, oh oh"!"

Despite exams approaching, Saturday Chat live is still going on and we are happy to welcome new students every week. The last meeting was very much focused on experience abroad that participants did in the past and are planning to do in the future. We discovered that for this summer the majority of us will probably opt for an ‘italian experience' instead of going abroad. Join us for the next meetings!

15.05 - Saturday Chat Live - Discovering Trentino

Trentino is a very magical place to study, spend holidays and discover new passions. Together with the community of Saturday Chat Live we managed to share the best places worthy to be visited in Trentino, to do sport (like drafting in Avisio river), have some relax (like Merano's bath) and much more (like castles of Rovereto or Besenello). The majority of the places we suggested are reachable by bike, bus or train and just a few of them were only reachable by car.

08.05 - Saturday Chat Live - Mum is always mum

A fruitful discussion on the role of mums and the need to have a day to remember how many sacrifices a lot of them go through for us. It was a very deep exchange of opinions that was guided by a nice game allowing participants to be ‘randomly' selected and tell us about a little story concerning their mums. The debate was very respectful and there was space for funny moments but also for sharing some difficulties that sometimes arise in this special relationship. Thank you to all the participants, always active and joyful!

01.05 - Saturday Chat Live - Different approaches to solve an issue

Did you say conflict? I heard ‘opportunity'. Yes, this meeting was a deep exchange to get to the final message we delivered. The message was that most of the time we can learn from the every day's issues. We discussed the several little things we can improve to transform conflicts into opportunities to grow. Acknowledge differences and put emotions on the table are just a few of the tips we discussed. If you want to discover more, join our next meetings.

24.04 - Saturday Chat Live - Have a walk with us! Trentino outdoor

Outdoor Trentino was a very hot and appreciated topic! To start, Mattia guided the community through a Virtual Tour of the best website to rent bikes, plan mountain trips and discover new trails to hike. Later, with Sofia, the community was involved in a game; it saw our participants playing in teams and challenging themselves. We had an hour of pure fun and hope to see everybody next Saturday!

17.04 - Saturday Chat Live - Be a teacher for 5 minutes!

The community experienced a new way of communicating, by teaching and learning something in turn. We discovered new topics, through this method, we have never thought we could have been interested in, such as self-defense, diction courses and new recipes. We really hope that a lot of people in the community will go deeper into the topics we discussed.

10.04 - Saturday Chat Live - Zoom Book Club

This meeting was different from the others since we have chosen to encourage participants of our community to choose some topics and then have a meeting on these. Zoom book club was exactly this: a meeting where participants had the possibility to discuss their preferred books belonging to different literary genre. The most popular were self-help books, fantasy and historical books. We hope that some of these books will be a good friend to spend some time with, in this period of ‘lockdown'.

01.04 - Cuisine Lab Live - Special event

We cooked all together soft French cràªpes (with an expert French student giving tips) and a crusty pasta al forno Sicilian way accompanied by a homemade limoncello which was virtually shared among the 10 participants. While mixing and baking we had a great chat on what children like in the kitchen and exchanged tips and tricks for a perfect meal. For those of you who want to repeat the experience, in the download you can find the two recipes, while if you just want to see our creations just go into the photogallery!

27.03 - Saturday Chat Live - Build your career!

This past Saturday was about discovering new soft skills together, in particular, we focused our attention on writing a CV. Without being experts, the simple confrontation within the group of Saturday Chat Live was extremely informative. We shared some advice and personal experiences we have been through and we decided to have other meetings focused on career building. Indeed, in every country, there are very different approaches to seek the first job! Also this time the share of participants was a wonderful mixture of students from all over the world, even a cuban girl!

20.03 - Saturday Chat Live - Share your cuisine!

Last meeting was about sharing among the 18 participants things that are helping to spend free time in this particular moment. We discovered that a lot of us are taking advantage of this pandemic to learn new things. Some of us are learning how to cook, some of us are learning a new language through tv series, but it is not all! We had the pleasure to share some recipes of good food to try and one of these recipes was Emma's Cake, a really special one. This cake is indeed without eggs and milk! This meeting was very special also because it was the birthday of one of the members of the community so we wish her the best also here and hope to be able to spend a lot of other birthdays together!

13.03 - Saturday Chat Live - Virtual Tour through Italian art

The Italian culture can be immense to transmit, therefore in this meeting, we chose to share with the community of Saturday Chat Live the places in Italy enclosing an artistic masterpiece, according to our tastes. We wandered from landscaped beauties to buildings and statues that made history and are known all over the world. All the 16 participants were actively involved: Italian students were contributing to the presentation with their direct experiences while foreign students fed the discussion through questions and curiosities.

06.03 Saturday Chat Live - Share something yours

A pleasant and funny discussion around interests selected on the inputs that came from the members of our community. We discovered that a lot of us play an instrument or really like to sing. At this point, attendees of Saturday Chat Live are acquiring more confidence and evidence of this was a participant deciding to bring his grand-mother to the meeting. This episode proved that our community is very open and looking forward to broadening its knowledge also through different ages and perspectives. The audience was made up of 19 students half of which were Italian eager to expand their friendship spectrum in the whole world!

27.02 Saturday Chat Live - Which is your team role?

We illustrated the Belbin Model (an innovative and inclusive approach to discover which is your precise identity in a team dynamic - Team roles at work, 1993, Butterworth-Heinemann) and explored the 3 different approaches within a team: Thinking-oriented, Action-driven and People-oriented. The 30 participants, divided into breaking rooms, were asked to find a common solution to a given problem: the sudden spread of a pandemic. The students could choose between two timeframes: either 1970 or 2021. All groups enhanced the importance of being realistic and found concrete solutions with serious action steps that could be followed. At the end of the meeting, we submitted a brief survey to ask which role they had recovered during the activity, and we had a very varied rose!

20.02 - Saturday Chat Live - The importance of networking

The agenda was basically focused on how we can build online communities. After a brief introduction, we asked all the participants (25, both international and Italian) to think about a topic that they would have liked to discuss in the following meetings. To produce a final output we split into different breakout rooms. Then each group had the chance to share with the whole community the main ideas that had been discussed separately. A lot of inputs were proposed: from book-clubs to comparison between different cultures, and little workshops to improve linguistic skills. Every single idea was noted and we decided to build the following meetings exactly on these inputs. We were pleased to notice that the dominant feeling in all participants was the need to find an instrument/pretext to create and keep contact with each other, and we think that the Padlet community is a good starting point, to go further then thanks to the participants initiative itself.

11.02 - Spacial Event: Welcome Drink

This special event was a balanced mix of institutional greetings and presentation of UniTrento, and peer-to-peer activities, that allowed students to have a first exchange among them. For this meeting, we also decided to share a Ted Talk, which you can also see here. It was a great way to explain how interesting it can be to disclose a bit of ourselves towards "strangers". The brainstorming we had, thanks to a word cloud later (figure in the photo gallery), confirmed that a lot of us experience biases when it comes to talking with strangers but that we are ready to overcome them, together! It was our huge pleasure to see that, despite the situation, students were eager to start this study experience in Trento. We really hope that our community will enlarge day by day, and we are glad to see the high participation of both students from abroad and Italian students. We will try our best to keep it growing.

06.02 - Saturday Chat Live - A semester is finished!

The meeting was completely focused on the beauty of experiencing a period abroad (even if just virtually). We first listened to some students telling us some of the best things they have tried and learned during their semester at UniTrento, then we shared some learnings taken from different trips during COVID. The majority among us experienced for the first time a "solo-journey" but, despite some boring moments, we enjoyed them a lot since we had the chance to discover new places without a crowd and we acknowledged that, thanks to technology, it was not so difficult to keep in contact with people far from us. The meeting ended with a quick poll where everybody fulfilled a survey to understand which social media was used more, and the outcome was unsurprisingly Whatsapp and Instagram (figure in the photo gallery). Nevertheless, some social media we discussed were new to the majority of us, that is why we hope -at the end- to have left some interesting hints to our community. The meeting really participated: there were 38 people coming from all over the world (included many Italian students!), as you can see from the pie (figure1 in the photo gallery below). We hope that Saturday Chat Live will keep being a safe space where we can just chill after tough weeks and be ourselves.
