Thanks to its rich history and strategic position, Trento offers a unique gateway into Italian culture. Our brand-new Trento summer school in Italian Culture, organized by the Department of Humanities, provides a two-week full immersion in Italian literature, history, archaeology, art, music, and cinema. Combining lectures, seminars, urban itineraries, cultural trips, outdoor activities, the programme welcomes international students from a variety of disciplinary fields who seek to enrich their academic curriculum and personal growth. Participants are encouraged to develop their cultural knowledge, heighten their cultural awareness, and constantly question widespread cultural stereotypes.
Extra activities: Archaeology and Art urban field trips run by University Professors, mini concert, outdoor activities.
Visit to Venice or Florence over the weekend.
Admissions reserved to up to 25 senior Undergraduate and Graduate students from partner institutions (mainly extra-EU). A good level of English is needed (B2). Nomination by partner institutions, selection by UniTrento according to the following selection criteria: English level, CV, motivation letter.
Workload and credits
The Summer school, in English language, foresees 5 lectures (2 hours each), 5 seminars (2 hours each), 5 discussions (2 hours each), project development (4 hours).
At the end of the summer school participants will receive an official UniTrento transcript of records certifying 6 (+2 optional) ECTS. Minor changes might occur.
Teaching methodology: Lectures, seminars, discussions, final project.
Trento, UniTrento Dept. of Humanities (a brand-new building, located right in the city centre). Participants will be accommodated at the San Bartolameo Campus (30 minutes by walk, 10 by bus, from the centre of the city). The cost of local transportation will be covered by participants, except for the one-day excursion. It is possible to buy either one-way bus tickets or daily bus tickets at the front office of the train station or in any News Agent's - in Italian Giornalaio - for the amount, respectively, of € 1,20 and € 3,00. All participants will be accommodated in single rooms at the UniTrento San Bartolameo Campus.
Reduced fee reserved to students from UniTrento partners universities: 600 Euros.
Fee for external students: 1.000 Euros.
Accommodation and meals are included in the participation fee while travel costs are to be covered individually by participants.
