International opportunities for students

The two-week Summer School SPDL consists of focused lectures on both vertical topics (Security and Privacy) and horizontal ones (soft skills) lectured by academics/practitioners. Customer interviews, companies’ site visits, a project work and socializing events are an important aspect is the interaction with companies and entrepreneurs in the field of data security and privacy for ICT applications in daily activities.
In the first week, students are introduced in the use-cases provided by partner companies and then teams are formed around the best proposed-ideas to: explore markets; define user profiles and technologies; validate product and service concepts. The second week explores marketing and business opportunities, including company visits, pitch-presentation tutoring as well as business and technical mentoring, to be finalized with the presentation of the project in a final pitch in front of a business panel.
Extra activities: 2 company visits + 2 meetings with Start Ups
Outdoor sport activities and cultural visits to Milan, Verona and Trento are organized during the weekend. A day-off together.

Participants’ background

Computer Science, Information Technology (or similar). Admissions reserved to up to 50 senior Undergraduate and Graduate students (both EU and extra-EU).
A good level of English is needed (B2). Selection criteria: English test, CV, motivation letter, optional GRE.

Workload and credits

The Summer school, in English language, foresees 8 frontal lectures (2 hours each), 8 mentoring sessions (2 hours each) 4 tutoring sessions (2 hours each) and 32 hours of team working.
 At the end of the summer school participants will receive an official UniTrento transcript of records certifying 4 ECTS
Teaching methodology: Lectures, seminars, discussions, final project.
The teaching methodology consists of: online preparatory courses on innovation and entrepreneurship, frontal lectures and mentoring, team-work to finalize the proposed solution, harmonizing technical soundness and business feasibility.


The Summer School will take place in UniTrento permises in Povo (located on hill, 10 minutes bus from city centre).


All participants will be accommodated in double room in 4-star-hotel In Trento.

Participation costs

1.000 euros, including tuition fee, meals and accommodation costs.
